The Priory Rooms are selling bottles of fresh apple juice from Northfield Eco-centre’s Urban Harvest. They are available to buy from reception for £2.50 per bottle, Surplus funds from the sale of the juice will be used to support the Urban Harvest project in 2016.

apples.jpg35 picking locations were visited by over 70 volunteers who collected the fruit from residential gardens, orchards and parks across Birmingham, where the fruit would have gone to waste.

After 91 hours of picking over 3 tonnes of fruit was collected. It was then re-distributed to local charities and disadvantaged groups; children’s centres, homeless projects, food banks and schools.

Some local fruit sellers also purchased produce which contributed to the reduction of Birmingham’s food miles and in turn the carbon footprint.

The remaining fruit from the Urban Harvest was preserved; over 608 litres of juice was made into 810 bottles. Buy a bottle at The Priory Rooms reception and help continue this fantastic community project.
