spend_a_penny.jpgThis Lent The Priory Rooms raised an incredible £45.00 for Cord’s “Spend a Penny” Challenge; vital funds for clean water and improved sanitation in Africa.

The Priory Rooms have been supporting Cord’s “Spend a Penny” Challenge, asking staff and visitors to put a penny in the pot every time they flush the toilet! The challenge was designed to draw attention to how often we take water for granted when others in the world are deprived. We flush our toilets and wash our hands with clean water everyday and barely think twice about this being a luxury, yet many other countries have poor standards of sanitation which increases the spread of disease. All the money donated to Cord from the challenge will be used to help provide clean water, improve sanitation and promote hygiene education in Africa.

For 40 days and 40 nights, The Priory Rooms placed donation tubs and informative signs in the public toilets and the Atrium area kindly ask visitors and staff to donate to the charity. The Priory Rooms are delighted to announce they raised a total of £45.00 for the charity; a fantastic achievement when as little as £8.00 could provide clean drinking water for one person!

The Priory Rooms Team would like to thank all of their kind meeting and conference room users who donated to Cord’s. The Priory Rooms hopes that the fantastic feedback and support will inspire other companies to fundraise for charities. More fundraising events will be held at The Priory Rooms throughout the year.
