Directions

The Priory Rooms is located within walking distance of all three of Birmingham’s city centre railway stations - Birmingham New Street, Birmingham Snow Hill and Birmingham Moor Street. These stations provide trains to destinations throughout the Midlands, as well as direct trains to most major UK cities including London, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool, Cardiff, Bristol and Southampton.

If you arrive by train, we suggest you follow the walking routes described below. There is also the option to take a tram from outside New Street station straight to Bull Street and outside The Priory Rooms gates.

Walking from Birmingham New Street (approx. 10 minutes)

Once on the main station concourse, take the exit signposted ‘Way Out / New Street / Metro’ bearing right as you go up a slight slope. Once outside on Stephenson Street turn right, walk a short distance, then cross the road at the pedestrian crossing. Follow the tram lines up the hill, passing over New Street, continuing onto Corporation Street. Continue past House of Fraser, then turn left by the traffic lights onto Bull Street. Walk a short distance along this road and you will find The Priory Rooms driveway on the right-hand side, next to the Peace Hub, opposite the tram stop.

Walking from Snow Hill (approx. 2 minutes)

On leaving the station by the main exit, cross the road and walk through the small archway next to Tesco Express. Once on Bull Street, cross over the road and you will find The Priory Rooms driveway next to the Peace Hub, opposite the tram stop.

Walking from Moor Street (approx. 7 minutes)

On leaving the station turn right and walk up a slight slope. Cross the main road using the two pedestrian crossings. Head up Carrs Lane, the road in-between Marks & Spencers and Carrs Lane Church. Walk past the Travelodge until you are facing Boots. Here turn right then follow the road around the corner to the left onto Bull Street. Walk up the hill, continuing straight ahead at the crossroads. As you pass the Bull Street tram stop you will find The Priory Rooms driveway on the right-hand side of the road, next to the Peace Hub, opposite the tram stop.

Birmingham is central to the UK’s motorway network, with the M1, M5, M6, M40 and M42 all connecting to the city.

Unfortunately, we do not have on-site car parking however our recommended car park is:

From North-West and M6 South

Leave the M6 at junction 6 taking the exit towards A38(M). Keep right and merge onto the A38(M). Continue on the A38/Aston Express Way into Birmingham City Centre. Take the slip road signposted to ‘University of Aston/Childrens Hospital.’ At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto James Watt Queensway/B4114. Turn right onto Dale End, then turn right onto Newton Street. Take the next left onto Dalton Street and the entrance to the NCP Car Park will be on your left.

From East-Midlands and M6 West

Leave the M6 at junction 6 taking the exit towards A38(M). Keep left, following signs for A38(M)/ Birmingham(Central) and merge onto A38(M). Continue on Aston Express Way/A38. Take the slip road signposted to ‘University of Aston/Childrens Hospital.’ At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto James Watt Queensway/B4114. Turn right onto Dale End, then turn right onto Newton Street. Take the next left onto Dalton Street and the entrance to the NCP Car Park will be on your left.

From South-West and M5 North

Leave the M5 at junction 3 and travel towards Birmingham City Centre along the A456 (Hagley Road) for approximately 5 miles. Keep in right or middle lane and Pass under Five Ways Island using the road underpass onto Broad Street. Drive along Broad Street then turn right by the Hyatt Hotel onto Bridge Street (following the diversion signs which are currently in place). Turn left onto Holliday Street. At the end of Holliday Street turn left onto A38 (Suffolk Street Queensway) and keeping in the left-hand lane continue straight onto Paradise Circus (a large junction with buildings in the middle). Go two thirds of the way around Paradise Circus and take the 3rd exit onto A4400 (Great Charles Street Queensway). Continue on the A4400 then take the slip road signposted ‘Bull Ring Shopping / Aston University.’ Take the third exit at Lancaster Circus roundabout, then merge onto B4114 (James Watt Queensway) Turn right onto Dale End, then turn right onto Newton Street. Take the next left onto Dalton Street and the entrance to the NCP Car Park will be on your left.

From South-East and M40 North

From the M40 join the M42 Northbound. Exit the M42 at junction 6 and take the A45 West (Coventry Road) signposted towards Birmingham. Continue on the A45 for 8 miles until you reach Bordesley Circus roundabout and continue straight onto A4540 (Watery Lane Middleway). Continue on the A4540 (becoming Lawley Middleway) passing over two more roundabouts. At the next roundabout take the first exit onto A47 (Jennens road) signposted for ‘Millennium Point / Bullring’. Continue until you reach a junction with a Birmingham City University building on the corner and pale-coloured, high-rise apartments ahead. Follow the roads all the way around the apartments (B4114/Masshouse Lane) then turn left onto the B4114 (James Watts Queensway). Turn right onto Dale End, then turn right onto Newton Street. Take the next left onto Dalton Street and the entrance to the NCP Car Park will be on your left.

To The Priory Rooms Car Park

We are only able to offer disabled parking directly on-site, however, should you need to drop-off heavy items at the premises before your meeting or event, please follow these directions:

Drive along Colmore Row passing by Birmingham Cathedral to your left. Turn left onto Temple Row West and follow the road around keeping the Cathedral on your left. Continue straight on along the pedestrianised area of Temple Row between the shops/cafés. Turn left onto Bull Street, then turn right after the tram stop to return down Bull Street in the other direction. Immediately after the Peace Hub turn left through The Priory Rooms gates.

Taxi

Birmingham has a large network of taxi companies, with TOA being Birmingham’s largest black cab company. TOA operate 24/7 and all their taxis are wheelchair accessible. Find out more at http://www.toataxis.co.uk/

Bus

Tram

Birmingham’s trams run from Wolverhampton into the city centre, passing through the famous Jewellery Quarter, and stop on Bull Street immediately outside The Priory Rooms entrance on Bull Street. The tram route also now continues to Birmingham New Street And trams run every 6-8 minutes during the day, and every 15 minutes in the evening.

Air

Birmingham airport offers both domestic flights within the UK and international flights, and it is located approximately 9 miles away. There are regular trains from Birmingham International train station providing just a 15 minute journey to Birmingham New Street.

By train

Birmingham now operates a clean air zone which is chargeable before entering the City Centre.

Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone went live on 1 June 2021 and from 14 June high-polluting vehicles will be charged to drive within Birmingham.
