Central England Quakers Follow National Lead on Shares Investment

Quakers commitment to sustainability sees shares moved and re-invested!

ceq_image.jpgSince 2011 Quakers in Britain have been committed to becoming a low-carbon sustainable community. As part of this journey, Quakers in Britain have decided not to invest any of their central funds in fossil fuel extraction companies. The Priory Rooms Meeting and Conference Centre is owned by Central England Quakers, and has held some of its long-term reserves in listed investments including oil company shares. We are now following the lead set by Quakers nationally and selling our shareholdings in BP and Royal Dutch Shell with immediate effect.

Working in partnership with Central England Quakers, The Priory Rooms strives to be an eco-friendly meeting and conference venue through a variety of environmental initiatives and sustainable practices. Our most recent investments include rain water harvesting, PIR sensors on our lights, electric vehicle charging stations and heating control sensors.

Throughout 2014, Central England Quakers and The Priory Rooms will aim to continue this commitment to sustainable practices. To find out the latest news from Central England Quakers visit their website http://news.centralenglandquakers.org.uk/
